NNAMDI KANU! Simon Ekpa Threatens Month-Long Lockdown Of Government Offices In South-East

The Biafra Republic Government in Exile (BRGIE), led by Simon Ekpa, has issued a stern warning of a month-long lockdown targeting Nigerian government offices in the South-East region. The move is in response to ongoing security concerns and the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Ekpa made this announcement on Friday through a statement on his official X handle, revealing that the decision was reached during a virtual meeting of his BRGIE cabinet. The proposed lockdown is scheduled to run from August 28 to September 26, 2024.

According to Ekpa, the lockdown will affect government offices across Imo, Abia, Enugu, Ebonyi, and Anambra states. The primary demands include the immediate release of Nnamdi Kanu and other detained Biafrans, as well as the demilitarization of the South-East region.

“The Biafra government has approved the lockdown of Nigerian institutions in parts of Biafraland in response to the continued killings of Christians and Biafrans, the invasion of churches, and the abduction of worshippers,” Ekpa stated.

He added that the BRGIE is demanding the complete withdrawal of Nigerian security forces from Biafra territory and the release of all detained Biafrans, including those held in the northern regions of the country.

This latest threat comes despite IPOB’s earlier decision to call off its Monday sit-at-home order, which the Ekpa-led BRGIE has continued to enforce in the South-East. The situation remains tense as the proposed lockdown approaches, with potential implications for the region’s stability.
