Armed Robbers Raid Radio Station In Oyo, Injure Security Guard, Steal Equipment Worth Millions

In the early hours of Friday, armed robbers attacked a local radio station, making off with equipment valued at millions of naira. The brazen heist saw the criminals invade the station’s premises, where they targeted and looted electric cables and other essential broadcasting equipment.

The robbers also struck the station’s power generator house, severing armoured cables, and ransacked the transmitter house, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. In addition to the equipment, the robbers stole a motorcycle belonging to the station’s security guard.

The 70-year-old security guard, who was on duty during the incident, suffered significant injuries. He was beaten, tied with ropes, and struck in the chest with the butt of a gun. The injured guard was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment.

Kemi Ojelade, the Acting Head of Channel, confirmed the attack in a telephone conversation with *Daily Post* on Saturday. She stated that the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS) management had visited the station to assess the extent of the damage caused by the robbery.

As of the time of this report, the security guard remains hospitalized, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
